Almost a year ago, a friend shared with me the EWG website and I started researching laundry detergents- which ones I should stay away from and which ones would be safe to use everyday. I don’t know about you, but we have piles of laundry every week and we don’t even have children yet!

Knowing that certain brands and scents had made my skin itch, I pretty much just stuck with one popular brand that you can buy at your nearest Walmart or Dollar General. Want to guess what the rating is? C!!

I was clueless that it had ingredients that were safety concerns due to potential risks for development and reproductive toxicity, cancer, as well as skin allergies and irritation. Isn’t it crazy to think how many years we’ve used this brand? Scary too, right?

This was a MUST in swapping first. My recommendation is that you switch to a non-toxic environment, but you also have to realize it takes time. I started this a little over a year ago and I’m still finding things I can change in my home or lifestyle. My biggest piece of advice would be to think of the products you use the most often and start to transition those products first.

We are currently loving Molly Sud’s if I don’t make my own. It’s formulated with earth derived ingredients, but it also gets the job done! You only need one tablespoon because there are no fillers in it like other brands.

Check out the ingredients:

Sodium carbonate sourced from the Green River Basin in Wyoming, sodium bicarbonate, magnesium sulfate (heptahydrate), unrefined sea salt, and organic peppermint (mentha piperita) oil

Worth the money and worth changing for your health!

We should all do what, in the long run, gives us joy, even if it is only picking grapes or sorting the laundry. -E. B. White
